Mike McDonnell has spent his life serving Omaha, from his 24 years in the Omaha Fire Department, including six as Fire Chief, to representing District 5 in the Nebraska Legislature since 2016.
As President of the Omaha Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, Mike has consistently stood up for working families and fought for safer, stronger neighborhoods.
Born and raised in South Omaha, Mike earned degrees from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Bellevue University. He’s a proud husband, father, and active community member who brings his dedication, experience, and passion to his job representing all residents as State Senator, ensuring Nebraska is a place we can all be proud to call home.
